Dear Colleagues,
The Conference in York, St. John College, England, has come and gone, and was a great success, very largely due to the excellent organization of Gaye Ortiz and Lucy Walshaw in York. With the theme of ‘Ethics and Responsibility, Theology, Literature and Film’, the Conference attracted a very international body of delegates and a great diversity of papers. Professor Borgman’s Presidential Address will shortly be posted on the Society’s website, and plans to publish a volume of selected papers, edited by Gaye Ortiz are well under way. Our thanks to all who attended this meeting and contributed to its success.
Already plans are under way for the next biennial conference in 2004. It has been our practice for the past few years to alternate meetings between the UK and mainland Europe, and it is hoped that next time we shall meet in Uppsala, Sweden. This is to be confirmed, but watch for details in the near future. Discussions are progressing with the theme of literature, culture and world religions. This would be an exciting new venture for the Society.
